Conditions we treat

When the tests come back “normal”, but the suffering is real

Many people live with persistent symptoms and no clear explanation. They are not imaginary. They have a neurobiological basis, in central sensitization and dysregulation of the PNIE system, which can be understood and treated.

The IDENTA Model is designed above all for complex somatic and functional symptoms: conditions where the discomfort is real and lasting but does not correspond to any visible structural damage. Rather than divide the symptom between specialties, we understand it as an integrated expression of biological and psychosocial experience.

These are some of the conditions we see most often. Each has its own explanation and its own place within the IDENTA Model v1.0.

Conditions

The conditions we see most often

A calm moment during recovery from fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia

Widespread pain, fatigue and unrefreshing sleep that carry on even when test results are normal. A real condition, with a neurobiological basis and a structured approach.

A person with chronic migraine during a calm consultation

Chronic migraine

When migraine stops being episodic and settles in almost daily, there are sensitization mechanisms at work that can be understood and modulated.

A person with chronic fatigue being supported during a consultation

Chronic fatigue syndrome

Deep, persistent exhaustion that does not improve with rest and gets worse after exertion. A real condition that calls for understanding and a careful approach.

A person with functional digestive symptoms during a consultation

Irritable bowel syndrome

Abdominal pain and changes in bowel habit with no lesion to explain them. A disorder of gut and brain communication that can be modulated.

A person with persistent somatic symptoms being listened to during a consultation

Persistent somatic symptoms

Real, long-lasting physical symptoms with no clear structural explanation. They deserve to be taken seriously and addressed rigorously.

A person with tension-type headache during a quiet consultation

Chronic tension-type headache

An almost constant sense of pressure or tightness around the head, tied to muscle tension and sustained stress, which can be understood and regulated.

A person sitting calmly by a window

Central sensitization

The mechanism that explains why pain and other symptoms are amplified and persist when tests show no lesion.

A person practising calm breathing with one hand on their chest

Anxiety with physical symptoms

When anxiety expresses itself in the body through palpitations, chest tightness and dizziness, and worry about health feeds the discomfort.

A neurologist supporting a patient during a consultation

Functional neurological disorders

Real neurological symptoms such as weakness, tremor, dizziness and seizures that arise from a problem in how the nervous system functions, not from a lesion.

Do not see your case here? The IDENTA Model also treats other functional and central sensitivity symptoms. An integrated assessment is the best place to start.

One shared approach

How we approach these conditions

Although each condition is different, they share a common basis: dysregulation in how the nervous system processes the signals coming from the body. That is why we follow the same phased process, without dividing your condition between specialties that never speak to one another.

About the IDENTA Model
  1. 1
    Integrated assessment

We organize your history and build an interdisciplinary hypothesis.

  2. 2
    Understanding the symptom

We identify the neurobiological dysregulation behind the discomfort.

  3. 3
    Therapeutic intervention

Psychotherapy, neuropsychology or neurostimulation, as indicated.

  4. 4
    Follow-up and measurement

Clear objectives and results you can observe over time.

This information is provided for general education. It does not replace an individual medical assessment and is not a diagnosis. Whether any intervention is appropriate is decided after the corresponding clinical assessment.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about these conditions

Why do my tests come back “normal” if I feel unwell?

Because many of these symptoms do not come from visible structural damage but from how the nervous system processes and amplifies the signals coming from the body, a process called central sensitization. Imaging and laboratory tests do not measure that mechanism, so a normal result does not mean nothing is wrong.

Does that mean my problem “is psychological” or “all in my head”?

Not in the sense of being invented. Mind and body form one integrated system, the PNIE system. The symptom has a real neurobiological basis and it can be understood and trained. We do not play down what you are going through.

Do you treat symptoms that are not on this list?

Yes. The IDENTA Model also addresses other functional and central sensitivity symptoms. If your case does not fit exactly, an integrated medical and psychological assessment is the best place to start.

Where do I start?

With the integrated medical and psychological assessment. It organizes your clinical history, brings the medical and the psychological together, and defines which interventions make sense in your case before any treatment begins.

Start with an initial assessment

Every process at IDENTA begins with listening. Request an assessment and get a structured opinion on your case.
