Care for persistent functional and somatic symptoms
Understanding and modulating the neurobiological dysregulation behind pain, fatigue and other symptoms that persist with no visible structural damage.
What it is
Many persistent symptoms are not explained by anything visible on a scan. Pain, fatigue, dizziness, functional digestive problems and functional neurological symptoms can all arise from dysregulation in the way the nervous system processes and amplifies the signals coming from the body.
At IDENTA we do not read this as “something imaginary”. It is a real neurobiological phenomenon and a well-studied one. Our approach is to understand that mechanism and to modulate it with concrete strategies, inside an interdisciplinary plan.
Who it is for
We work in particular with conditions such as:
- Chronic pain and myofascial pain
- Persistent fatigue and brain fog
- Dizziness and functional neurological symptoms
- Functional digestive disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome
- Central sensitization symptoms with no visible structural damage
The approach includes:
- Assessment of central sensitization
- Assessment of functional symptoms
- Autonomic regulation strategies
- An interdisciplinary treatment plan
How it works
Mapping the symptom
We describe how, when and in what context the symptom appears, and what makes it worse or eases it.
Assessing sensitization
We look for signs of central sensitization and autonomic dysregulation that are keeping the picture going.
Regulation and training
We introduce physiological regulation strategies and psychoeducation to reduce how much the symptom is amplified.
Interdisciplinary plan
We coordinate the interventions the case calls for, whether medical, psychological or rehabilitative, around measurable objectives.
What you can expect
- An explanation of the neurobiological mechanism behind your symptoms, without playing them down.
- Practical regulation tools you can use day to day.
- Regular follow-up to track real changes in function and in discomfort.
This information is provided for general education. It does not replace an individual medical assessment and is not a diagnosis. Whether any intervention is appropriate is decided after the corresponding clinical assessment.
Frequently asked questions
If my test results are normal, does that mean nothing is wrong?
No. A normal result rules out certain kinds of damage, but it does not rule out functional dysregulation of the nervous system, which is real and can be treated.
Does this mean the symptom “is psychological”?
Not in the sense of being invented. Mind and body form one integrated system (PNIE). The symptom has a neurobiological basis that can be understood and trained.
Will I have to stop my current treatment?
Not on our word alone. Any change is assessed medically and coordinated with the doctors treating you. The aim is to integrate your care, not to improvise.
